Sheraton University City is the closest - 10 minute walk. There are some cheaper options by the airport, which is a 15 minute drive.

Did Citron and Rise close down? It's still in the wiki but Google maps says closed. Did something replace it?

They closed it. They bought out the Tavern on Montgomery and are doing renovations now but opening keeps getting delayed. The location where C+R was is now The Dairy Express.

Just went back to Philly for a quick trip with the kids. We've been a few times in the last few years, staying in Northeast Philly without the kids around New Years 2013 (3 days, 2 nights) and in Cherry Hill with extended family on Chol Hamoed 2015 (2 days 1 night). This trip we decided to stay in Bala Cynwyd.

Here was the itinerary (posting without too much detail, but at least if someone searches any of these places they'll know who to ask):

Battleship NJ - highly recommend, especially if you're into military history.
The Dairy Cafe - good cc pancakes and really good fries. Less impressed by the regular pancakes, plain bagels.
Fairmount Horticultural Center - was pretty dead this time of year.
Please Touch Museum - fantastic if your kids are young enough. Also, don't miss the model of the Centennial Exposition on the lower floor.
ACME Market - picked up deli and rolls from their kosher deli and bakery for dinner.
Homewood Suites - not particularly impressive, but had the space we needed (queen size pullout for 3 and 5 year olds, crib for infant). The kids enjoyed the pool for a while the morning of day 1.
Shalom Pizza - $10 pie. Price was the only good part IMO, though I was too hungry to care much that it wasn't great pizza.
Longwood Gardens - a little far at 45 minutes south of Philly, but totally worth it. The theme in the conservatory/greenhouses this time of year is Orchid Extravaganza, and it was spectacular.

Here for the day with young kids under 2. Any suggestions for anything free in the area to keep them busy?

Franklin Square playground. The playhouse at Smith Playground.

Not much else is free, other than the historic stuff, which doesn't help for 2 year olds. Please Touch Museum would be perfect, but it's not cheap (only <1 is free).

Thanks for the reply. Was cold in the morning to do any outdoor activities so ended up at the Franklin Institute. Was not cheap but kids 2 and under were free. Place had a bunch of exhibits and 2 year old had a blast. Highly recommended. Been to the Please Touch Me museum a couple times already in the past and was also a great place.

Weather.com had said high of 71, so I figured outdoor was actually better.

Thanks. My bad. Somehow I missed the earlier response. I didn't end up going last time and now it came up again.

Is there any good food place that delivers to CHOP hospital? Looking for something like sushi or a good salad?

No, but it's only a 10-15 minute drive to all the kosher places in the Main Line area.
