The Penitentiary was great!

I read the entire thread. It didn't sound like people recommended that for such young kids. Also i was specifically asking bc i am staying about 25 miles north west of the city. On a side note im think of switching to say in the staybridge in mt. Laurel if any one has an opinion either way.

You're probably better off with Mt Laurel, which is significantly closer to most of the attractions. You'll get hit with the $5 toll each day on the way in to Philly, but I'd say it's still worth it.

With kids those ages you can do the Philly Zoo, Camden Aquarium (don't even have to cross the bridge for that one), Please Touch Museum, Smith Memorial Playground (that one is free, outdoors, and perfect for little kids), to name a few. There are plenty of other museums, with varying degrees of appropriateness for young children.

Actually, with the exception of the Aquarium, all those attractions (and many others) are really close to the Main Line Jewish communities. Maybe look for a hotel in Bala Cynwyd?

Thanks! I switched to mt. Laurel. I like the idea of staying at staybridge with kids because comes with a separate bedroom and if my platinum comes through and i get upgraded to two bedroom that would be even better....

Check the Homewood Suites City Avenue. They have suites with separate bedroom and living area, though I don't know how it will compare on price offhand.

Also, depending on how long you're going for you might want to look into the City Pass. Going with kids you could do the Zoo, Aquarium, Please Touch, Franklin Museum and Trolley/Big Bus. If you have time to do all of those it's a pretty good discount - drop one or two and it becomes much less worthwhile.

I was on a roll after doing Newport, RI and Mystic, CT. Then I realized that Philly is a bit bigger, and I got a bit burnt out after working on it for a while.

Closest shul is Knesset Hasefer in Yardley but check before that there is a minyan
