Just received notice that as my Virgin America Elevate card issued by Comenity will be closed as VX terminates the Elevate program.

Will this adversely affect my credit score?
Difficult to say, since each credit report is different. You might see a small drop due to higher overall utilization of your credit.

If you pay balances in full it will not affect you, even if it did it'll be a few points for short period, i would not worry about it.

If both applications are on the same day the inquiries may be combined

if someone has a very short credit history a pull can hurt his score. I believe pulls make up 10 percent of your score.

Typically they fall off after 2 years, but it shouldn't effect him too much for anywhere near that long. One extra pull might not be too bad, just don't go crazy.

+1, not any effect after around 6 months, unless there is some other stuff as late payments, or high balances etc.
