Renters Insurance Question
« on: August 30, 2011, 11:57:34 AM »
Do you need to be able to show a lease agreement or some other form of proof of residence when making a claim with renters insurance? If you do is it going to be a problem to file a claim if you live in an illegal apartment?

That I know. They don't look too carefully when it comes to taking your money. I'm just wondering what's going to happen if you ever have to collect.

Well I have filed a claim on my laptop through my renters insurance policy and they didn't ask for any proof of residence...

Great rates, also you could add jewelry onto ur policy and their rates are amazing... I shopped around a lil

I doubt its an issue about the legality of ur apartment
Its not HUD

USAA didn't ask for a contract and coverage is good for Israel too. Made no issues when a claim was filed.

Do you happen to know if USAA also has a coverage package for electronics (laptops/cell phones)?

Again, could you make this coverage on your apartment in Israel too?

I live in Israel and my USAA policy is for my apartment here. Submitted a claim with an all hebrew police report w/ no problem.

In mid Feb i rented a car with my visa and had an AU on the car. the AU got into a minor accident and scraped the side of the car.

i never filed a claim with the insurance right away and then i was traveling abroad so i totally forgot about. While abroad, i kept getting calls from the insurance claim people and asking me to pay for the damage.

so when i got back to the states now i got another call from them asking to pay and i got them to waive $50 fee that they added for administrative purposes but they said they cant discount the damage amount. - is that true? if i stall will they give in?

---on the other hand i filed a claim now with visa and they said i had to do it within 45 days of accident but i said i was traveling so they said MAYBE theyll cover.

See if Visa will cover but if not and you have a pesonal auto insurance policy they may cover it

Had a fire, and was wondering if anyone here has been down this road...
