I have hard drive from an old laptop that I am trying to recover the data from. I powered it up and plugged it in to my desktop using a Rowewill USB/SATA connector. The drive seems to be spinning when I power it up, and initially when I plugged it into my desktop (through USB), it eventually detected the drive, but didn't show any files, and prompted me to format the drive (I didn't). I just tried to plug it in again through USB, and now the desktop seems to be trying to detect the laptop drive, but is freezing/not responding on the "My Computer" screen.
Would appreciate any low cost suggestions to try to access/recover the data on this drive. Should I try connecting it to the desktop via SATA (instead of USB)? Anything else?
thx
