Registering Car in NJ with NY license

They run your records at the inception of the policy but a computer does at renewal. Legally anyways you're supposed to have a drivers license in the state in which you reside which may have something to do with it

So what happens at renewal, they just accept the fact that they can't find your report?

Technically nothing to do with registering your car. Though that's probably the only way they'd notice.
