Yea the Mg"a and others likely didn't consider it a תרתי דסתרי, so I was looking for an explanation for it. I guessed there will be written on it if it was a minhag Chabad.

(Here is how the Minchas Elozer asks the question)

I've never done it or seen it done, but based on the sicha above, I've always been surprised that it's not more popular. Not often that we can eat a cookie or drink a beer and convert evil into good. :)

  • Programs: 1. Search on google. 2. Search in the right board of DDF with a general word or two. 3. Read the wiki. 4. Read the thread. 5. Ask away.

I see it very often (including last night)
But in the same sicha that the Rebbe  spoke of the idea, he says not recommended to actually do it in practice...

I've always been surprised that it's not more popular.

It would mean extending the moshiach seudah a half hour or more after Yom tov ends, so the Rov has time to buy back the chometz (or for someone to go to a non-Jewish store).

How many people who make Pesach at home do you think would go for that? Or perhaps a better question is how would their wives react if they did...

My wife would be perfectly fine with it (and we regularly come home a while after YT is over, even though we don't have חמץ at Seudas Moshiach).
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Saw it where? What were the logistics?

Where?

Almost every year wherever I am, the seuda continues into a farbrengen and someone eventually brings mashke.
And btw you don't necessarily need to wait until buy back from Rov if someone who ended YT goes to goyishe store and brings mashke..

RE: where the Rebbe says it. I don't recall off hand but I will share iyH when i find it
