I made a booking on 6/4 for a for a United economy flight (which is my choice for the 50%) I got 24,794 back on 7/5 and the rest posted today automatically. I was going to call and ask for the missing points, however I'm under FR at the moment and figured I should wait till it's over.
AMEX was hemorrhaging money when it posted next day. They're going to stop that bleeding no matter what you think is "bull" or bad customer service.
Why is 2 days not enough to stop that? Why 31 days?
Because your only thinking about one type of loss.
And you're referring to just regular usage? Meaning they want to limit the amount of times you can redeem the points for 50% back by making you wait 6 weeks to get it back? Then, if @Dan is right, that the banks pay airlines close to 2cpp, then why don't they limit airline transfers, as well?
They don't pay anywhere near 2cpp for most airlines.Probably around 1cpp for most.
You mean to be an exclusive cc partner?
Indeed. That's what costs the premium.
Automatic or did you call?
Thank for updating the post. Can you clarify that Amex is only posting the extra 15% only for those transactions in which 6 weeks have passed? In other words, it's not "fixed", it's by design. 31 days plus 2 weeks. ETA: @Dan Thanks!
Also was told that nonsense.Nothing irks me more than when a rep tells you something you know to be false as the gospel truth.
don't think this was there original plan, looks like there fixing there mistake.I wouldn't be surprised if it starts posting together or two transactions at the same time
