Depends on the J product obviously.

An 11 hour flight to HNL on a UA 764 with a tiny footwell, no pillows, terrible food, surly FAs, and having to climb over someone to go to the bathroom in middle of the night isn't enjoyable to me anymore.

It's definitely tolerable. Which is more than can be said for coach for a flight of that length.

I also remember being blown away by UA J EWR-TLV and that was in the pre lie-flat days :D  What a difference 7 years makes...

But the difference between UA Y and UA J is smaller than the difference between UA J and CX F.

Hey, now you are exaggerating. C'mon, once you're not cramped in a stinky Y seat you're a winner.

It probably also depends on how many miles you have.  If you have upwards of several million,  and it won't make a dent in your stockpile, then you'll definitely be more picky and "issues" with ua j could bother you. But if you don't have so many miles, and would therefore be spending extra instead of  on what could have been a second trip, psychologically you're factoring all of that in, and you may not be able to enjoy all the premium comforts as much, because subconsciously you're asking yourself ''is it worth it?" at the "expense" of taking another trip.

Wow, no excitement about this?? To me that sure makes it seem a lot easier to get to Mauritius and Maldives!
Frequency to MLE is only 2x a week (and one of them on Saturday) and departs Frankfurt at 7:50PM: so you're looking at a long (albeit same-day) layover on the departure. On the return, you'd almost definitely have to overnight in FRA with the 5:40PM arrival.

I'm currently in @yehuda's camp and the best I've has is UA J and by far outstrips Y and I'm apprehensive about getting too used to J long haul kal v'chomer F...
I'd like F to be a treat not a necessity...

P.S. Thanks Dan for the Vs/ba price glitch - looking forward to Tlv-lhr-jfk in cramped Y seat (at least I know I'll be flying with half of mir)

Its perfect amount of time to check out the LH F lounge and it will be a nice option points wise to get LH F for a decent amount of miles.   (considering that you just pay just 30k more miles for another 9 hours in J)

Fortunately or unfortunately, my first ever trip miles trip was a freakin' home run: 14 hours of bliss JFK-AUH in EY F.

So I never quite experienced the euphoria of a product like UA J :)

To my mind, on a true long-haul, the scale of 100 is something like this, where we're comparing the worst economy (Spirit) to a mediocre business (UA J) to a top-shelf first (EY/SQ imho):

Coach = 20
Business = 60
First = 90

And in some instances, like my latest trip, where the premium for F > J was a measly 10K miles, it's an absolute no-brainer.

2015: 116K bkd | 1.6M brnd | F: OZ,NH,AA,EK | J: UA,CA,TK,DL,TN,AF,VA | LIH,NRT,ROR,PEK,CNS,BOB,MEL,TLV & Pacific Hopper

Ah, I knew that would be misinterpreted.

1. Spirit Y ≠ UA Y
2. Nothing is a 100 and nothing is a zero. I've had spectacular flights and some pretty underwhelming ones, but to say something is a 100 is not something I think I'll ever do. It means no aspect, not a single one, could be improved. I don't think anyone on here has truly has a 100.

And as long as they're still serving KSMLs on planes, there will never be a 100 :)

Maybe the residence on the new A380 for 100?
If that's a 90 the residence should be 100 unless you will rate it at 99:P
