ETA: in all seriousness, most of the time the slowness is either because I think of a different correct word for the hint, or I misinterpret the clue. Especially when it comes to ones when they're trying to be tricky e.g. today's 8 Across.

This game is strange. Today I glanced at the leaderboard before starting, looked like it would be hard. Then I finished in 20 seconds, beating my personal record by 30+ seconds.

Now I need to learn how to optimize pressing the pause button.

You gotta be the only one not hitting the pause button. Took me a week to notice it. The times people finish is way too quick to not be using it.

Honestly there's only 1 person's score who I care about (skyguy918) and he's a crossword pro. He mentioned upthread that he used to do the (full) NYT crossword's consistently, so I trust that his times are real. :)

I hope no one is using the pause button...

Info and settings button works as a pause button as well. I guess let’s find out who else uses it.
