And, yes, no one wants to hear people complaining about their text rate when they are making $200K
Not sure if this is a typo, but oddly enough, my firm announced today that we no longer have to pay out-of-pocket for the voice and texting charges on our I-phones.

You're claiming collusion among all of the big firms?
With the 30 MLB teams: there was collusion, yes. That would represent illegal activity (which was made possible by the antitrust rules not being applied to major sports leagues).
If that is taking place in the law arena, get all the lawyers together and create a union to fight it.

Sure no collusion. Just a hundred firms  all announce the same bonus amount within a few days.

You think they don't have everything typed up beforehand anyway? Because it takes so long to give the same that was given last year...

I don't know if it's collusion more than its simple supply and demand/market economics.

Question about the legal profession: There are so many big law firms compared to other professional services firms, where M&As over the past decades consolidated the largest firms. My impression is biglaw hasn't experienced as many M&As. Why not?

not sure it's the reason but conflicts could be a factor

I've thought this.

Although law firms have gotten a whole lot bigger in the past 20 years.

Megafirms" or BiglawEdit

The largest law firms have more than 1,000 lawyers. These firms, often colloquially called "megafirms" or "biglaw", generally have offices on several continents, bill US$750 per hour or higher, and have a high ratio of support staff per attorney.[17][18] Because of the localized and regional nature of firms, the relative size of a firm varies.[19]

Don't know what their overall reputation is but the videos are embarrassing. Looks like they plucked random individuals off the street and asked them to read civ pro notes out loud.

I think of good lawyers in terms of element, one of my best friends does commercial litigation, didnt go to great school, frum guy not savvy but has that "my cousin jimmy" brooklyn savvy (where he's from) You want tachlias from a lawyer who tells you logistics "they will settle for x because it will cost them x to pursue case etc"

I have a hard time trying to imagine my 100+ lawyer friends in court because I dont think of them as eloquent speakers. But I have one friend who I can clearly envision at the negotiation table of a 25 billion dollar merger making heads roll ;)

Ok, but, behind the dude making heads roll in the negotiation, is people like me who read technical documents and make sure my client is actually going to get the benefit of that head rolling negotiation. That's what lawyers do.

No, I'm telling you that what Harvey spector does is not what you hire lawyers for.

I'm assuming you live in NY and would like to live there when you are working?

What's the price for each, including cost of living?

I would personally go to the highest ranking school possible. If you want to do big law, you'll have a real tough time these days if you're in Cardozo unless you're at the top top of your class.
