Rep claims yes. He didn't sound particularly knowledgeable though, so i'm skeptical. I downgraded anyway, so I guess we'll see what happens.

Not sure why people are so weary of possibly paying $89 for 50,000 miles and possibly even cheaper if you got the $25 statement credit. That is a great deal for the amount of miles you are getting. For those that don't want to even pay that, just patiently wait until your points post and then cancel the card. No need to start trying to figure out if you can close the card after the spend and still try to get the points etc.
