One tidbit…He only ate fish and dairy. He explained that in Russia keeping kosher was a huge nisayon and very often a family would have separate pots for the wives and children to eat due to health reasons. At some point many people would just give up and say, they’re eating why shouldn’t I also? Why should the father keep it if everyone else is already being nichshal. So he made himself a neder to never eat fleishig.. and was never matir neder even after reaching Eretz Yisroel and living in frum communities!!!!
