HT: FT

Citi in NY pulls from either Equifax or Experian or both. YMMV even by the same person.

If you live in NJ or NY, you should freeze your Experian. They will only pull Equifax then. Otherwise, YMMV.

FOR MORE INFO, READ FT'S WIKI - IT IS PHENOMENAL, FT WIKI

Quote from the above mentioned FT WIKI:
For the most part, freezing Experian, or another bureau, will not cause Citi to pull a different bureau. They will almost certainly require you to unfreeze the bureau they wish to pull or deny your application. Some people have been successful providing the PIN but others have not. Mostly, freezing a credit bureau in an attempt to force Citi to pull a different one seems to waste time, money, and effort for little result. But YMMV.

DDF data points (As of 10/2015)
NY- pulls both EQ/EX, can still get instant approval with EX frozen
CA, OH, PA, TX- ONLY EX. Citi will refuse to pull other bureau

Benefits:..
New no forex fees starting Nov.'15

From FT Wiki:"Important exception: If you receive a Platinum World MC which is later converted to a World Elite MC (as indicated on the back of the card), the opening of that card will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule. This is true not only for conversions in early 2015, but also for those in more recent months.
Note: It makes no difference when (or whether) you activate the World Elite card. If you have the WE card in hand, then the conversion on Citi's books is already complete. There is nothing magical about activating it.
There are a few reports that some Gold World MC are being converted to Gold World Elite MC and that will no longer count for purposes of the 18-month rule."
UPDATE: As of 02/18/2016 (for applications after 02/09/2016), the W>WE loophole may be dead.

How do I move the closing date?
You ask them to move the payment due date, and the closing date automatically changes. IME they won't change it within a couple of days of the closing date.

No I'm not A/Aed yet, but I'm fearing getting A/Aed, since 600k miles went out from my account in the last year. And not one was for me.. That's why I'd rather close it manually rather than waiting on them to do it, and I was wondering if somebody has experience with it.

You misread his post. He's saying that people have had success getting the AF waived, not refunded (which you'll obviously get since it's in the T&C that you can cancel and be refunded).
OOO got it thanks. my bad.

That has nothing to do with citi.
It's a issue that AA might come after you for selling miles

You are luck that AA has not audited your account.

He is what I plan to do. Let me know, if it is doable.
1. apply 100k points and $200 statement credit, $10k spend card Citi AA card.
2. Buy immediate refundable business class ticket and spend $10k.
3. Hopefully after first statement closes I will get $200 statement credit, 100k points. $450 AF.
4. Cancel refundable ticket. Cancel card within 30 days of statement posting.
5. Get AF refunded.

Is all of above possible? Any experience with success on it?

Any other idea to manufacture $10k spend within first statement and get it refunded after points post?

Great! Thanks for feedback. So you think all of above is possible to collect 100kpoints and $200 and not spend anything and also get AF back if card is closed in time. Right?

NOT possible. You need to spend 10k. No refundable. If you decide to do this - you're playing with fire and you have been warned ...

Hopefully last question from me. If somehow, I come up with 10K. I buy 10K worth of gift cards from Walmart, Macy etc.... in first month itself on this card. then pay card - 10K-$200(statement credit) = $9800 (if I can come up with that much money) as soon as statement post. then cancel the card, I get my AF back.

then will continue to spend thru Gift cards for all the time in our shopping for foreseeable future. Is that possible to collect 100K points, $200 credit and no cost to me? will that work?
