Is the Sat night flight cancelled already? If it is they can reprotect you on Elal if you don't want to travel with a stop. Have done it this morning for someone whose flight was cancelled with Delta for Thursday night.

No. But the suspension is indefinite.
But even if it was, it sounded from the rep, that they wouldn't be able to do anything.

Once they actually cancel the flight, huca till you get a rep who can reprotect you on a direct flight. I've done it this morning and many times before.

Did it twice w/o HUCA. Just need it be persistent and wait for a sup if necessary.

True enough. If you're dealing with someone that sounds uninformed it may be easier to call back and get someone more competent.

have a flight booked for next week on AC using United miles. So far would still like to go.

is there anything i could or should do to make sure that if i need to delay will be able to get on a flight?

When I seached FRA-TLV it showed via MUC, and MUC-TLV showed via FRA
