I wasn't able to use my Marriot points on time and they were taken out of my account. Over 114k
I asked Marriot to reinstate and they said:

I am happy to be able to offer you CEC Points Reinstatement Challenge Offer.
An eligible Member (whose Marriott Bonvoy® Points have expired within the last 18 months) may register via CEC to complete 1 Qualifying Paid Stay in 90 days and get their expired Marriott Bonvoy® Points reinstated.
This offer is only valid one time for the life of a Member's Account.

Has anyone ever done this?
Would it help if someone was staying at a Marriot location and added my name to their reservation? I don't have any plans on staying at a marriot.
