Why would it being Republic Airways make a difference? when you're on the plane the only indication it is RA is "operated by RA" on the boarding pass. The crew announces themselves as being reps of AA, everything about the flight is AA, and the "contract" the passenger has is with AA, not RA. It is AA who has the responsibility of getting the passengers to the destination, and if the RA crew doesn't do their job, it is AA who is responsible to the passenger.

A RA pilot can fly for AA, DL or UA.

happened to me several times.
Wrong airline only happens with republic, skywest, etc which operate for multiple airlines though my understanding is that they often have dedicated crews
