Need advice about different programs.
« on: July 20, 2015, 04:42:33 PM »
Hello experts:

Couple of questions about extending the expiration date:

1. What is the easiest way to extend the expiration date on United mileage account?  Is the Mileage dining program still the easiest? Is there a thread here that I can learn more about this? Or, is there another better alternative?

2. What is the easiest way to extend the expiration date on AA account?  Is there something like United's Mileage dining program for AA? How does that work? Is there a thread here that I can learn more about this? Or, is there another better alternative?

3. I dont want to pay the AF for Ink Plus (wife's name). I dont know if I will be offered a retention bonus when calling to cancel the card. So, if Chase doesn't offer anything, and I close the account, what happens to my 87K UR points? Just a reminder that my wife recently applied for and was approved for Sapphire preferred.

4. Can I transfer the UR points from my wife's account to wife's & kids United account (& wife's AA account) to extend the expiration date?

Thanks for your help.

A few other posting pointers:
1.   This is an open forum, not a text message. Please try to use proper spelling and grammar. This is not the place for “u2” and “wats up” lingo.
2.   The longer your post, the less likely members will be to read it.
3.   The more questions you ask in one post the less likely any will be answered.
4.   Don't write really long paragraphs. No one likes to get dizzy.

You can purchase magazines to earn some points and extend life of points.

If you close down her card, transfer it to a different UR earning card you may have first. If you do not have anything, make sure to put it in an airline account.

Thanks for the reply, Marco

I got her a Sapphire preferred card, so I should first transfer URs earned from Ink Plus to Sapphire, and then close the Ink Plus account, correct? Can it be done online or with a rep? Also, will Chase assign her a new UR number for Sapphire or it would have been automatically linked to the old one?

For United points, I will just buy cookies at a participating place, and extend the life.

I dont know anything about AA point extension. Would prefer to have a dining option like United to extend the life, but if that is not possible, then will order magazine, as suggested.

Thanks for the links Mordyk & username. Will read these soon and come back with questions.

Thanks.

Transfer first. Can be done online. Same UR account.

Was checking AA dining program, looks like it basically works same as United's dining program. Does anyone know how it works if you register one card on both sites, and use that card to pay at a restaurant that is on both dining programs. It would be really cool to have miles credited to both from a single purchase. Anyone has experience in this??
