In terms of Chase granting cards to individuals who already have a few (or more), they seem more willing to grant "partner" cards (e.g., Hyatt, IHG) than their own (Freedom, CSP). I presume the BA card is just like a hotel partner, in terms of ease of successful application. Is that accurate?

4% CB (after calculating the 1% purchase fee) x $18k in spend is 72,000 points to claim cash back.. 18k to spend on the BA card will give you 68,000 avios..
I personally would rather have 68k Avios in my account vs 72k CB points.

yes, UR cards are harder to get approved for

1 - the 1% purchasing fee is the same for both. So it is 5% not 4%.
2 - now you have to take the last step to see which is better. Can you buy 68k Avios from the CB you will earn?

Yes. BA go for a penny or less. CB would get you the miles with room to spare.

Please explain why its a full 5% vs. 4% still not understanding that.. kindly clarify

Yes BA is cheap but its close to even & I rather have the miles in "my" account vs someone elses account. I have seen/heard plenty of shutdowns
