DP: i flew hainan from ALA to PEK. flight was delayed close to two hours. didnt research the PEK airport properly. landed in PEK and border patrol wouldnt let me through (needed to transit to another terminal). they insisted on me calling hainan rep to assist even though hainan was paid ticket vs separate booking PEK-HKG-JFK award ticket on cx (asiamiles).
after waiting approx 30 min, Hainan agent strolled over and contacted CX help desk (from her own cell phone might i add) and in a very angry tone, got the CX rep to book me on later flight from PEK to HGK. cx agent texted her a screen shot of the new itinerary which she showed border patrol and they let me through to transit. i ended up not having time in HGK as planned but if i would have missed the HKG-JFK flight, bigger issues with shabbos and date line would have come in to play had i needed to leave fri am.
