Any way around it?
It is possible you will get the points, though don't rely on it.

How much can I spend at staples on legit purchases to maximize the %5 back without running into issues with chase ?

I have the opportunity to spend about $20k at staples am I safe to put it all on the ink bold card ?
Does it make a difference if I put half of it on my ink plus card ?

IME 50k is np. Put 50k on each card.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Is there any consensus as to how many UR points it is safe to park in your account before transferring them out?  Is there any problem to let them accumulate?

IMHO the amount of points has nothing to do with potential AA.

So you are saying it is perfectly fine to let them accumulate?  Ok to let 1 million points sit in the account?

50k is the max for the bonus.

If you spend $50k on these card and the whole $50k is spent at 5x points places is that a issue with chase ?

No that is not what I said. Everyone needs to make their own decision on what to do with their points. Because of the games I play mine are gone the day they post.

Ok.  I am planning on saving them for future travel but don't have any trips planned for the near future.  That is why I would preferably like to keep them in my UR account.

So do so.  Just don't do any risky activity.
Dan had a post about what's risky.  Don't be obvious about selling miles.  Don't be obvious about buying for points.

Someone on another thread just referenced Dan's post.  http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/35174

Yes to UA or sold. With the help of members here I can get almost the same for UA as UR.

UA allows you to sell it to someone or give to a third party?

I'm not aware of any airline reward program's T&Cs that allow you to sell your miles to someone else.  You risk losing your account(s) if you get caught.  But if you don't get caught, it can be profitable.

UA does not allow you to sell.  You can book using your account for someone else.  However, if not properly and carefully done, they will shut you down.

Deal with a (hopefully) careful and responsible broker.

If you book for a friend, I don't think you get in trouble.  Or if chase asks about it, you can explain.

Probably multiple tickets for many unrelated names is a flag.
