UPDATED: The Hilton Aspire credit card from American Express now comes with two semi-annual $200 credits, one each half a calendar year, which can be used towards room rates, taxes, spas, meals, and other incidentals at any of the 200+ hotels listed here.

There are three ways to purchase someone's credit for use towards your room rate:

1)Use their card to book a prepaid rate online

2) Have them make you an AU and then use that card to pay for your room at check-in

Obviously, option 1 is more desirable than 2, or

3) Have the buyer send you a personalized link that pays to the resort.

Which is obviously the best.

Anyone know if I can ask a hotel to charge me $250 before 12/31 to chap the credit if my stay isn't going to be until after Jan 1?

Yes. I would give it a try. Note that it is 100% dependent on the hotel. They may require a credit card auth form, which shouldn’t be too hard to fill out. It’s been a 40% hit and 60% miss for me. Interestingly enough, some virtual auth forms do not accept Amex.

P.S make sure it’s also a Resort property!

12/31 is irrelevant, unless 01/24 is your renewal date. HH is not calendar year.

i think it's relevant this year because Amex is switching it to $200 per 6 month starting 1/24. and $250 benefit is being retired on 12/31/23.

Yes this should work.  Make sure the card is charged prior to 12/31, ideally several days before. You need the post date to be 12/31 or earlier.

That used to be true before the changes to the way the resort credit works.  Now the 12/31 date is relevant.
