ok, i will defend myself.
1. i didnt make a big deal of Dan generalizing about the trouble local kids in la, even though its very possible he was actually (inadvertantly) referring to me much more than i was referring to him.
i took it like a man, with a joke, and actually i think Dan took what i said the same way
2. as was clearly stated many times throughout this, although there are issues with each place there are also solutions/ways to avoid it totally. and like Dan mentioned:
I hope that people that travel and get out of NY as much as DDF'ers do would rise above that.
and NECESSARILY regarding narrow mindedness, if indeed it would apply in the specific circumstances, what Dan said would be a clear antidote.
3. its not an unfamiliar thing for each place to have its own klipa. i don't understand what the offense is. the west coast is pust and nothing not even yiddishkait is real. europe has the opposite impression, with real tangible interferences with the appreciation of refined concepts. But on the other hand they can appreciate yiddishkait as a true thing, with much more substance than one lacking any relevancy in life at all. and it is each of our job to confront our own circumstances. Why is one an offence? and why any more than any other? maybe even the contrary is true
i think anyone who took these comments out of context should look in the mirror
