So here's the thing.  There's a tiny minority of lunatics like casey anthony, so prosecutors need to look into it in case it is casey anthony.

Have taken to listen (found a free audio version online, don't know about availability in print) to the original און די וועלט האט געשוויגן, and find it most fascinating first person account (to the extent that I keep on listening despite subpar narration).

I later read up a little more about the book, and find it extremely unique that the first translated version (in French) was actually done by the author himself (though the name La Nuit wasn't his idea).

Couldn't they have found a way to get him out? This sounds like murder to me. Not that he doesn't deserve it its just not how police usually get a suspect out

A way to get him out ? His intention was to kill & keep on killing till he can kill no more.

Therefore? Many criminals hole themselves up like that creating a standoff etc. They don't usually kill the guy like that. Usually swat will go in and get them out and if they can't them they'll shoot him.

This isn't your typical criminal or psycho that forgot his meds. They usually wet their pants or kill themselves when swat goes in. This was a monster that had some heavy duty training to take anyone on. Any swat going in would be at risk. And they waited long enough. This would've gone on for days.
