I'm just discovering this thread now.
I am not a TA, someone I know is, I am a mileage agent, but mess around on Sabre in my spare time, my Sabre PCC is not US so fares aren't ever good, and this agency only issues through a consolidator. I've gained some new knowledge reading through this thread, but I'll probably come back with questions from time to time...
One interesting thing to point out being in the mileage business, all AA PNRs (issued by AA only) can be viewed in Sabre, just enter *ABCDEF and you'll see it, but try enter anything more than *I, *A, *H, 4G*x (you won't be able to actually assign a seat) and you'll get the error: DISPLAYING PNR YOU DO NOT OWN-IGNORE OR ENTER ¤AAL/CLM TO CLAIM, I tried entering ¤AAL/CLM (only on my own AA mileage reservation) but I get this response: THIS PNR IS INELIGIBLE TO BE CLAIMED - PLEASE IGNORE. It's very handy especially for finding out operating airline relocs.
One thing that I'm not comprehending is married segments, I had an issue a while ago where searching for a 2 segment flight showed U0 but searching the 2 flights separately showed U9. I tried selling the first flight then searching the second but it now showed U0, I tried long selling it, but came back UC, in the end I long sold both seats on the same line using the § in the middle and I got SS on both, and HK after ending, (and WP gave me the price I was looking for, just in the foreign currency of my PCC) but I was told by another agent I know with Sabre that he wouldn't issue it because he'd land himself an ADM (I couldn't issue it myself because as I said above my agency uses a consolidator and charges a fee above (forget about commission!) the foreign fare, and it wouldn't be worth it. What's wrong with what I did and how would the airline find out? (this other agent suggested I call the airline directly and tell them I need the ticket issued and my TA is not answering his phone...)
