I've made a personal rule to never give a dime to a turkish company. Never flew with them, even when there was wide open J for 34k to the US from Israel
With erdogan's comments about Israel, and he openly welcoming hamas etc, I think it's not wise to transit in turkey these days

I don't see a problem transiting IST. Erdoğan is indeed a problem. I might be biased, but I try to separate most Turkish people and Turkey from Erdoğan.
Also, if you need to fly to Russia, and your option is a 15-16 hour journey via Istanbul vs a 20-26 hour journey using other options, which one do you choose?
THY existed before Erdoğan was born, and is likely to exist after he is gone.
