Reading the footnotes, it appears that in order for the "First checked bag free" benefit to apply, the CitiŽ / AAdvantageŽ account must be open 7 days prior to air travel. My question is does anyway know how strict they are in their interpretation of '7 days prior'? I just opened a card and will be traveling next Wed Jan 14.

In other words, does the day I opened the cc count as #1 (today) or is tomorrow #1 as its the first full day account was opened. The same question applies to travel day.

In the past I have had luck getting the charge refunded.

Actually I got a rep to note it to the account that they will refund the charge after I fly.

No I called up before and explained that I was traveling soon and hadnt been able to link the FF# associated to that CC to the flight bec I hadn't received the FF# yet (I only received the card a couple of days before the flight).

My card arrived a couple of days before we were scheduled to travel. I called and the rep linked it to my reservation. Had no problem.

Not sure but give them a call you have nothing to lose.
