Booking hotel room with points for someone else

This may have been discussed before, but I'm not sure what it would be called, which makes it difficult to search for.

I know that you're not allowed to sell points here. Would it be similarly not allowed for me to ask people to book me a hotel room using starwood points, and I'd pay them back in cash?

That way, I would get a room for less than the going rate, and the person booking the room would get a good price for his points?

Is this allowed, and if so, does it make sense?
