Craiglist Scam fighting Back!

I recently posted a couple of items on cg and am really mad about so many scammers responding. So tonight I had it, I decided to fight  back. I signed the scammer who send me a fake paypal payment email, to a whole bunch of email newsletters! So take that.  Anybody try this

I once told the guy that I shipped it. When he insisted on the tracking number, I sent a link to a virus laden site ;)

There are have been some very famous scam baiting routines over the last few years.

It's an entire culture on the net. See here for one forum.

One of my favorites was detailed on the podcast This American Life. If there is an interest, I can post or link to the 29min segment. It's a great listen.

I had a lot of experience with these scammers....

Spamming their mail wont piss them off.... they have tonz of email accounts

I played along with them.... untill they get really pissed off.

Also - there is a differnt scam they try to do is get you to wire money to them ... (they are selling the item - car ect...) I played along, got a fake reciept from western union emailed it to them....

Serves them right

Just responded to another scammer who wanted to send me a check. He asked for my name address and phone number. I gave him the info to the Lieutenant in charge of the investigative unit of a nearby Police Department. Haha!

Post something on CL and wait for the replies...once you see it, you cant miss it. But then again, there are so many people that do miss it and get screwed.

One of the times I was hocking the scammer - this is what I wrote and got responded

"Do you find me to be a good scammer? Could I work for you?"
