What is the file type of the gibberish files?
One ends with a period and no extension.
.76═
.î]w
.f$
.amε
and two folders that I can't open (I get an error The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.)
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Looks like photorec got all except around 40. BH! Is there any reason to think that another recovery tool would find the rest?

Always worth trying a different one, as sometimes they have different methods. Try Disk Drill,  ReclaimMe, DMDE, All have free trials/preview.
