I don't understand the question
If there was no Mashchis (i.e. Saraf), why would you need a siman for the Mashchis?

(famous question, dealt with at length in the Maaseh Hashem, Masseh Nissim among others)
Small people talk about other people.
Average people talk about things
BIG PEOPLE TALK ABOUT IDEAS.

IIRC there is a very famous רעק״א said over by many Pidyon Habens dealing with this. @imayid2 can you locate it please?

Ahh you're saying the mashchis is a type of Malach?
I didn't understand it to mean that.

Not sure what you mean. I always heard like yfr said that it's for a zchus

On a related note I never quite understood the ליל שימורים related protections we find in regard to ליל פסח. After all by ליל שימורים of mitzrayim itself there was sakana as it says ואיש לא תצא מפתח ביתו עד בוקר.

See The Niseevos's hagadah that says just the opposite, based on the Zohar (Pesach al shem mah). Extra shmira is needed precisely because the makah was done by HKB"H.

Zecher lmikdash khillel... You might say that you see from here that matzah was soft and flexible. But not necessarily. It could be the meat was the wrap.

My own 2 cents.

We know it from other places like the Gemara where chametz and matza loaves are mixed up and you can’t tell which is chametz and which is matza

Lechora without the ketzat charif. If chasa was the ideal maror used, why would they put in horseradish? But I laughed out loud.
