Citi AA Visa to Bronze
« on: August 14, 2012, 12:41:30 PM »
Just got 2 Citi Hilton cards and gave up  Citi Amex to open one Hilton.

Called to cancel the 2nd Citi AA Visa today and move CL and was offered bronze to keep it since she could not move CL to other cards.  Any downside to keeping the Bronze open?

Funny thing is she said I wish you would have called before opening new card I could have moved CL to new card. LOL

Shows me they really dont see or understand everything that goes on on their screen FWIW

Downgrading to the new AA product might reset your 18-24 month AA timer with Citi, so you'd get screwed if that happens.

One of the regular Hilton (no annual fee) and one of the Hilton Reserve?

Why not 2 reserve? w/ 2-nights free (each one, for a total of 4) it sounds like a no-brainer.

Just curious, is this something you yourself are worried about, or something ppl have reported as happening to them?

I thought the reserve gave weekend nights only and I need the midweek flexibility.

Most of my points will be used for Vienna and other European capitals and would be midweek plus maybe one weekend night .

Can't plan that well so did it this way

I've heard it from others

Why risk it? I was going to do the same thing until I found out it might reset my timer, so I called up and they waived my annual fee again.
