What kind of belt do you wear?

Curious...I've tried various companies in the <$50 range, and they all split/wear fairly quickly, in one way or another - either the layers of leather split apart, or the belt badly wears at the spot where I usually buckle it it, to the point where I feel embarrassed to wear it. So these are not super-high-end, but basic companies like Calvin Klein, Perry Ellis, Nautica, Nordstrom.

The only exception I've found has been 2 belts I got from Costco for ~$20. One got lost, and the other still looks great despite being worn almost daily for 3 years. Unfortunately, Costco stopped selling these belts.

So I'm curious to hear other people's thoughts, suggestions, etc.

Genuine leather vs. bonded leather makes all the difference. A bonded leather belt is almost disposable IMO.

That's what I'm learning. Which genuine leather belts do find to be not too expensive, but good quality?

Update - Looks like Costco.com may have belts again, I'm gonna give it a shot - but still open to trying other options!

+1. I used to just buy whatever and ended up having to buy new way too often. Last time I bought I decided to pay the difference for full grain and haven't looked back.

If you have PreCheck, anything with a not-too-solid buckle does the trick. Personally, I have a regular belt from His Place which never caused issues. I think the Kirkland belt from Costco is also good like that.

depends on the airport and even terminal. ORD and LAX seem to have no issues. LGA and EWR seem to vary by checkpoint. BOS terminal B , C no issues. Terminal A (my home terminal) every belt I own is no good.
