Didn't work for me with a Capital One acct, Cap1 voided the transaction, and cancelled the linked account when they saw the $250. They didn't notify me about any of this, but when I saw it and called they told me since it's an Amex routing number they don't consider it a checking/savings account. Grrr.

I guess AP would work too, but no rush, it ends 9/30. I got $400 for opening my C1 acct (frozen credit, so no pulls), no regrets

More significantly, it worked for both my own account as well as my wife's, even though only one of us got an email about it.
It therefore seems that this is not targeted.
