Best CURRENT Canon Powershot option
« on: November 17, 2013, 12:57:15 AM »
Which is the 'best' canon Powershot camera to wait for (hopefully black Friday time)?
Preferably one that uses a SD card (vs a micro sd card).

IMHO the 330 HS is the right answer. Best Buy has it for 137.99 plus tax (for most of us). I hope there is a better deal somewhere. The 330 has optical image stabilization, better low light images, 1080p, and better zoom.

You should definitely check out the canon SX-280. It's not as cheap but definitely worth the money. Been using it for over a year, and loving it!  20x optical image stabilized Zoom is as good as it gets!

According to CNet the battery goes quickly - true or not?

I have no need for that much zoom, really looking for very good pictures indoor and good enough zoom.

Although the 20X zoom came handy at the Niagara Falls, I'm almost never using that much zoom, but it's a big plus.
And the stunning HD pictures, beat most cameras in its class. It's just 12MP but images are sharper than the 16MP ones. Believe me, I've tried quite a few.

You don't think the 330 is better or not worth the additional money?

Got The SX-280 for $199 on amazon
+ tax
+ a nice AmazonBasics case (reg. $5, but they didn't charge for it)
+ 3 year SquareTrade Spill & Drop warranty

For a total of $251. That's one heck of a deal!

The Canon SX Line are top quality cameras.
