Spring Workshop:Sunday, May 21st, at
Sandy Hook, NJ.This is part of Jamaica Bay National Recreation Area, and includes a number of National historic landmarks as well. This is a wonderfully varied site; we'll be able to shoot landscapes, beaches, little forests, a lighthouse, abandoned Cold-War missile launchers, historic buildings, and a variety of birds. If the weather cooperates we will be treated to a lovely sunset over the water as well.
We'll meet mid-morning (exact time TBD based on group preferences) and continue until after sunset. This location is around an hour and a half from Monsey, 1:15 from Brooklyn, and under an hour from Lakewood. Parking is currently free as well.
This is open to everyone, and for all skill levels or equipment. As always, the better your gear the more options you have, but quite frankly even if you only bring a cell phone to this you will learn a ton and come away with some incredible photographs. I will be able to help out with gear if needed, such as tripods (with adapters for phones), filters, and so on.
Ideally though you should have a decent camera, a wide-angle zoom (the typical kit lens is perfect), a tripod, CP and ND filters, and a comfortable way of carrying everything. There will likely be many birds around, so a long lens would be incredibly useful too.
The park is quite large, and we will be able to drive between many locations. There will however be a fair amount of walking on both paved paths and sand, so make sure you're fine with that.
The cost is $120 per person. If you've been on a workshop in the past, or if you're interested in coming with a spouse, let me know and we'll work it out.
In order to make sure that everyone is able to learn and get one-on-one teaching, space is limited. The sooner you confirm your spot the better. Send me a PM here, or email me at info@morrishersko.com to reserve your slot.
