$75 fee:

-21+ days prior to departure is based on the departing city time zone, not the booking city time zone.

EDIT: I managed to call in and have them waive the fee when it was within 21 days in departing city time zone but not by booking city time zone

UPDATE: AA has removed all close-in fees

Currently booked JFK-HKG-CNX. is there anyway to add HKG-MLE-HKG, and then continue to CNX without having to pay any fees ?

I doubt it. MLE, even as a stop of less than 24h would be major backtracking.

How about the way back on EY, would I be able to add mle in as a stop between BKK-AUH ?

and in a different region (ME/Indian Sub-continent), so would trigger a new award type.

Sounds like you would need two awards in any event as you can't officially fly on a single award from Asia to NA via the middle east, so best bet would be to make an award (or paid booking) BKK-MLE, then award MLE-AUH-JFK on EY

If you were culminating your travels in AUH of the ME (TLV) then you would be able to stop in MLE (BKK-MLE-AUH) for less than 24 hours. I don't know what the point of a sub-24 hour stop would be, but you could technically do it. If your travels end in NA you'd still need 2 awards.

How do you search HKG-CNX segments?

I have miles that are expecting to post after the Deval. If I book J now, can I upgrade to F when the miles post?

Same route, different carriers.

Will they charge me the new F rate? or the old one?

And if it were the same carriers that would make things any better?
