Jewish Trivia
« on: July 30, 2023, 07:47:32 PM »
What is a sefer that was written by two mechabrim? Not that 2 sections were written by different people, rather that the actual sefer was composed by chavrusos working together to write the sefer.

Gps navigation for your soul.
Although that can be classified as a book more than a sefer.

Also Nekudos HaKesef on the Taz. While most of it is from the Shach, there are some pieces from his son.

Sadly, their relationship was totally shattered.

Really interesting answers. I thought there were just a few, but I see there are a lot. The contemporary ones don't surprise me that much, I was more asking about the classic Reshonim and Achronim, but these are great answers nevertheless.

Here's my 2 cents:

Also Nekudos HaKesef on the Taz. While most of it is from the Shach, there are some pieces from his son.
I think if you are splitting up parts, even shticklach, there are many more. Tons of seforim have pieces added by the author's son. I specifically mentioned the word "Chavrusa" in my question.

Sadly, their relationship was totally shattered.
Sounds intriguing. What's the story?

Really interesting. I actually have that sefer (it's an amazing sefer!) and never knew it had dual authorship.

I’m pretty sure mine hits your criteria. They were BILs, and chavrusos for years.

Their relationship was destroyed when they ended up on opposite sides of the machine matzah controversy. The שואל ומשיב was the Rosh Hamatirim, and his BIL strongly opposed him.

New Question:
Which Rishonim (besides for Rashi and his Grandsons and Great Grandsons) were (great)grandfather and (great)grandson?

Baal Hamaor and Raah

Ravad and Meiri

A couple that come to mind

I thought for a while and didn't come up with anything. Didn't know of these relations. The closest I got was Rav Maimon and Rav Avrohom Ben Harambam, but I think that it's cheap...

There are a lot of father/sons however.

I'll put forth another question.

Which word in the Torah has the largest Gematria?

Sistorer (too lazy to do hebrew). There's a weekly parsha sheet (Torah Lodaas) I usually read in shul that had this question Parshas Korah.

That's right. תשתרר, which is 1,500. Right before שני in פרשת קרח.

There are words in נ"ך that have a higher gematria. I think the highest one is the name of a king in the 4th perek of עזרא. Equals 1,640 IIRC.

I would think that it's called their torah.
Tomer Devorah?
Great answer, I didn't think of that one.
