Changing credit card account number
« on: July 01, 2014, 12:38:11 AM »
I've been out of israel for a year but I still keep getting a monthly charge from orange for phone service that I canceled.
I disputed all charges and I've blocked them from charging me but they billed me under a different account. I blocked them again but they seem to keep getting around it.

Will my credit be affected if I change my account number? If it makes a difference this is my first credit card a capital one journey (wouldn't want it to ruin my length of credit history)

As long as it is the same account, just changing the number does nothing to your credit.

Once they charge you once they can "rebill" the original cc number

israeli cell phone companies are known to overcharge and do outrageous things.
There's no reason that after I canceled my service I still get a monthly bill from them.
It's fraud and dishonesty from the merchant

Hmm so doesn't that defeat the purpose of a virtual cc number?

Chase forcibly changed my Freedom from MasterCard to Visa. I activated the new Visa, thereby shutting the old MasterCard account number. I did not update the card in PayPal. When I paid an online merchant with PayPal, the charge was authorized and posted to my new Freedom Visa.

No. They can only re bill you if it's the same account with a new number. A virtual CC, is a different account.

IME, If you get a replacement, they'll still bill you.

Most Israeli companies have official policies that would be considered fraud and racketeering in the western world.

The Israeli cell phone plans are much cheaper then in the US. And if you know what goes on with the teenagers who learn there, and what they do to the cell phone companies, you'd not talk that way. But it could be by you're case you're right.

Being cheap isn't a justification for being dishonest.  I have yet to come across an Israeli company that has a mechanism in place for allowing their CSRs to refund money billed in error. That's just one example.

You seem to have very limited experience in this field.

Yup I remember fighting tooth and nail
With Israeli companies for the most outlandish charges.... One case comes to mind when the phone company I was using charged me an extra 200 shekel for absolutely no reason. I was fighting with a CSR and getting nowhere so I got transferred to her manager. I was raising my voice to make a point and the manager says "u stop screaming at me now I just work here and it's not my fault you got overcharged" then she threatened to hang up on me!!
