I don't think everyone here understands the degree of obsession that Chabad has with their Niggunim.
There is literally a Sefer HaNiggunim (2 vol.), which was published in the 1940s (IINM). The Niggunim are written out with musical notation and all the historical info, such as composer, date, place, style, meaning, stories, anecdotes, etc., is included.
When a Niggun is not original, and is adopted, that's written too.
