Here's something:
People spend hundreds of dollars on an esrog noeh, but have no problems wearing a yellowed, blackened, smelly, torn, putrid, sweat stained, herring stained and mangled talis.
Evey six months, soak and scrub your talis in a bathtub with tide. Hang dry, make sure to untangle and tighten the strings while wet. Then spend 15 minutes ironing it. And ironing in the creases.
Hisnoeh lefonoiv bemitzvos!
Very true, Disgusting...
My kids tzizis strings get tangled and mangled in the wash. What is a good way to wash them without that happening (and without buying the Magen Tzizis thing)
Thanks
About washing Your regular cotton ציצת You can wash In the washing machine,
I was them about 2 times a month, all you have to do to cause them not to tangle and have the smelly ציצת strings which dipped into the toilet, sinks and dragged on the floor washed as well, best way I found was to put in a net bag or mesh bag and now they can get washed just like everything else in the washing machine, I really don't get those who put them in tin foil or plastic wrappings as you want to wash the whole pair of tzizzus, and for all those who are worried about having the creased and rumble schtilkined pair of ציצת all you have to do is simple, take them while still damp or wet and unravel all the knotted ציצת strings which got stuck together in the wash, and be careful when pulling the strings to make them tight as if you will pull to hard you will cause the strings to rip which happened to me a few times, since it's wet the strings are tend to be more delicate, and now to undo all the crinkles would be to place the ציצת. On an ironing board working the long way by going from side to side with a quick steamy iron and go side to side until you have completed the whole pair of ציצת ,for best results iron the other side as well, and make sure to untangle the knots while wet as after they dry it will be a pain and furthermore. You want to iron them while still wet so make sure there nice and tight and then take the iron and go over the strings to straighten them, it works like a charm I do it all the time, it's a renewal of my pair of ציצת , It feels like I'm wearing a new crispy pair....with a wool pair I have never put it in the wash only went into the shower with it to have it washed by hand while taking my shower and yes it smells great while washing, but after when letting it dry it smells worse then before washing and regret the washing!
But just let them hang dry and by the morning you wouldn't even know from where that horrible odor was from....
