Meh, not worth applying just for 30k spend, you're getting an extra 15k UA (.5 extra UA x 30k), can do much better with a signup bonus. If you value the other UCC bennies, and/or plan on doing other heavy spending on the UCC, it might be worth it.

I'd consider the BA 100k offer (if you value the CP) and Amex SPG.

The UA Explorer will give you the extra 10K for $25K spend/year.

So best earning if you have the card and dont want to sign up for a new one.

And with the signup bonus, good contender IMO.

Amex Premier Rewards Gold offers 15K bonus for $30k spend/year.

There have been reports of people getting Chase to link their Ink Bold card card for exclusives even in 2012.

The only way to answer this question is for you to set your own value for MR, SPG, UR, UA, etc.

Don't forget the BA card gives 1.25 mpd and the just calculate the value of the CP and you'll have your answer.

So for $30K, I'd get 100K + 37.5K = 137.5K + CP.

With an additional 12.5K, I can get two RT tix on BA to LHR in F for ~$2300 in taxes.

Or I guess I could stick to Western Hemisphere, but then I wouldn't be able to use CP...

JFK to LHR in F is 120k, so you'd have enough to do that 2 (with Hermolis and a massage in the lounge) and to fly to CLE after that.

I don't think you have to have miles in the account, you just need to be signed in.
