Quotes in a signature is annoying, as it comes across as an independent post.
It has been assumed since February that children are not the main drivers of transmission in these outbreaks. This is one of the features that is unique to COVID-19: adults tend to pass it to children, not the other way around.
Based on what we've seen in Lakewood during the past 2 waves it definitely seems that children (10-11 and under) aren't a source of spread.
Wasn't saying they don't get sick; rather they don't seem to be a source of spread...
A family member who was being very careful, davening outdoors, no supermarkets etc is now positive along with his wife, son and daughter. The only one who was exposed was their elementary age son who was in school.
There is no way you have enough data to assume that.
100%. Was basing it on anecdotes.
Interesting; how old is the son? Thanks for the DP.
11 year old.
Hearing about quite a few people *with* COVID who are attending the COVID *restricted* minyanim (many without masks; after all, they’re outdoors). Absolutely nuts.
Real question: does having Covid+ minyanim help by giving people another option, or do they hurt by making it seem kosher for Covid+ people to be out and about and joining minyanim?
I guess it’s only half joking the story going around with the Baltimore guy who is really careful with social distancing and mask guidelines who finds myself in a Lakewood shul for mincha. Aghast at the fact that nobody is wearing masks he has no intention of joining them and risking catching Corona. He sees a small side room with a bunch of guys davening mincha that are all wearing masks so he joins them. After mincha one of the guys puts on his hand “Sholom aleichem. I see you caught it too.”
This has been debunked There is no way you have enough data to assume that.
Hope the State intervenes sooner rather than later.
