Skyteam Alliance
« on: April 09, 2010, 05:11:22 PM »
Hi all.

I have recently completed a family trip with a lot of legs and miles with Delta Air Lines.

What is my best bet in order to maximize my airmiles as I know Delta stinks?

thanks.

Correction: Skyteam stinks.
Which is why I do 99% of my mileage collecting in Star and Oneworld.

I'm not a Skyteam person so hopefully someone else will chime in..
I do know that flying blue has very high taxes and poor customer service.  That said they also have incredible promo awards and very low mileage rates for Israel.

A simple response would be to credit to flying blue, however, if you have spare time you can check out all of them, from china southern, aeroflot, korean, and so on...

Focus on two things how much mileage they give you for lower booking classes (some give zero), and miles needed for redemptions for an award ticket. Once you have an idea of which once passed the test, look at the fine print.
And most importantly, let us know please.

Is it possible to buy a ticket from Aeroflot and upgrade to Business or First with Delta miles? I assume not.  If yes, which fare class on Aeroflot?

I assume my other option would be to buy a ticket on Delta and upgrade with Delta miles. Which economy fare class can be upgraded with Delta miles?

I have mainly MR points so I think my best bet flying direct, would involve Delta.

Is there any rewards program that transfers into Aeroflot points?

I believe it's M and up for a mileage or medallion upgrade. Translation- very expensive.
