I was asking on a Kashrus WhatsApp group yesterday about the Nespresso Pods, which have a certificate from Basel.
https://www.nespresso.com/il/media/wysiwyg/_2017.pdfNo one was able to answer (as no-one seemed to have knowledge of the manufacturing and packing process) whether non-flavored, non-dairy varieties need Hashgocho, however there was a consensus that the certificate is worthless. One of the members of the group, who is very knowledgeable and works with quite a few (international and Israeli) Kashrus agencies in the country where he serves as a Shliach, told me that he once caught Rabbi Levinger who signs the above certificates, employing a goy (Muslim) as a mashgiach in a cheese factory.
If anyone has any insights about the manufacturing/packing process of those capsules and can enlighten us, so we can know if Hashgocho is needed for these, it would be greatly appreciated.
Also noted as a conclusion of the above mentioned whatsapp discussion was הכשר = השקר, ובלבד שתחליף כ"ף בקו"ף.
