Instead of taking a vacation (that might take 2 years) let's start tacking off the inquires of the report one by one.....

I meant any way that will help you get it off your report, that may include Bumpage (where it works) and other methods where it doesn't work

Bumpage is hard with any bureau and impossible with Experian.

do you have anything up your sleeve that the crowd on DD doesn't know , because as AsherO said bumpage doesn't really help even by the other 2 agencies

First of all bumpage is working it just takes time and most people give up to early, I was in contact with someone that did it and was successful and he said it takes approx 2 months of daily bumping to start seeing results, unless you use a few services to speed up the process, and this is were some people fail because they give up to early, (he mentioned to me that for him it only worked on TU & EQ not on EX)

Now the other proven method is to file a dispute, and here is how it works:

You need to send a letter to the institution that inquired your credit at the address provided in the report, saying that your not aware of the inquiry and you would like them to remove it ASAP (there is a special Legal Letter available for that) the main request should be they should send you a "Deletion Letter"

It may take up to 30 days till you'll get the Letter from them and then you'll need to send the letter to all 3 agencies and they should remove it ASAP,

This method is proven to work, although YMMV.

You shouldn't do it on a inquiry that got you approved for a CL because they won't remove it,

Sometimes they will tell you that they have prove that you did apply for the line of credit, then you'll need to reply that it was very confusing small letters and you didn't understand that they will do a hard inquiry (there is a special legal letter for this as well)

I have the legal letters in my computer and I'll try to post it soon,

And back the know factor YMMV..

As you pointed out don't do it on a CC that got approved , not only they won't remove it , strong chance they will shut down that credit line.
It also has produced fraud alerts even on cards you were denied for that you will have a hard time removing especially when you challange a major CC company that you really applied to. It seems like it works for off brand inquiries e.g. collection agencies etc. Do you have more info on this point.

I don't think they take it off while they investigate its there until they decide to remove it permanently .however as Yisha is saying there are ways to try to remove them but its a big YMMV

You have to understand that Chase isn't going crazy that the inquiry should remain in place, its not like disputing a Debt that you have with them, of course they won't love to do that but they won't call you in court for that.

I wasnt referring to getting into trouble for disputing , my question was does getting a fraud alert hurt your future chances of getting credit.

I'm not sure about it, but I assume that it won't hurt because you aren't calling the credit agencies that you have some fraud activity, you just send them the letter from the creditor that saying that they would like the agency to remove the inquiry.

people have reported that they are getting flagged for fraud . Lets see the letter , maybe they denied ever approving the whole inquiry and your letter says your disputing the authorization only for the hard pull.

You obviously realize this is a very grey area.

you can also file any dispute online with all 3 CA without any hassle and it wont lock down your report for further inquiries:

EQ - https://www.ai.equifax.com/CreditInvestigation/
EX - https://www.experian.com/consumer/cac/InvalidateSession.do?code=DISPUTE
TU - http://www.transunion.com/corporate/personal/creditDisputes/submitDispute.page

DON'T Claim its fraud, just that you didn't authorize this inquiry, therefor you request them to delete it.

NEVER try to dispute a inquiry that got you approved for a CL.

try to dispute online NOT by calling because they might ask you to first contact the creditor, then you'll have to send that above letter to the creditor with certified mail, if they'll remove it is fine and if not you'll need to re contact the CA and claim that you have send them a letter 30 ago and you got no respond.

you can also send a letter to the CA saying:

Quote:
Before making this request, I contacted the organizations responsible for these unauthorized inquires asking them to remove them. I sent letters via certified mail and have proof they were received more than 30 days ago. They have failed to respond and therefore I ask for your assistance in resolving this issue.

In accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act, I request that you investigate my claim and if you find my claim to be valid and accurate, please delete the unauthorized inquiries. Furthermore, I ask that you send a corrected copy of my credit report to the above address.

If your investigation determines the inquiry was authorized, I respectfully request that you forward to me a description of the procedure used to determine this within 15 days of the completion of your re-investigation.

Regards,

End Quote:

and lets not forget YMMV
