Hi all,

UA allows free changes to itineraries, as long as the origin and destination stay the same. If I book a flight to, say, JFK, and then want to change to a flight headed for EWR or LGA instead, will they consider that a "change of destination" and charge me a fee? On the one hand, much of the airline industry considers all three airports to be "NYC" (to the point where searching ANA for JFK will bring up results for EWR, and vice versa); on the other hand, certain airlines are quite stubborn about that - AA, for example, once wanted to charge be $150 to change the originating airport from LGA to JFK.

So... what's UA's shitah?

TIA!

I doubt ana considers jfk and ewr the "same" but rather, either you had cliked search airports within....
Or it is automatic with ana system to search airports within....

Unsure abt this, but for same day changes they don't recgonize co-terminals, but as a plat I've never had a problem by HUCAng until I got it. Anyway, with United now EVERYTHING is possible. Just HUCA.

Q274- ana and uA.com by default will show results for JFK & EWR. One of the biggest problems with aeroplan is that it makes u search separately

-A great search engine is ANA.
-You need to first signup for an ANA account:
https://cam.ana.co.jp/psz/amc/jsp/regist0_e.jsp

-You can then use this link to search for Star Alliance award flights:
https://aswbe-i.ana.co.jp/p_per/sky_ip_per_en/preAwdSearchLogin.do

-Click "Use Star Alliance Member Airlines"
Perform the search, for example type in JFK to TLV.

-By default only nonstop flights are shown, for this route the Continental flights from EWR to TLV are shown.

While on topic... Once had a story with 3 family members flying with AA miles into JFK nonstop, but they needed to get to NY as early as possible so they switched to a flight that, albeit with a stopover, was landing into LGA earlier and paid $150 x 3.
Ultimately the LGA flight ended up being delayed due to technical difficulties with the aircraft and they arrived later than they would have if they took the LGA route.

Countless HUCA to AA didn't help to get the fees refunded...
