Is there any way to book for someone else with my silver status?
(Ex. give over all my miles to them...)
And what about my spouse?

I have a united card. My boarding group was 2. I had a carry on and a backpack (which fits under the seat). Gate agent made me check my carry on, didn't make the people in front or behind me. There was plenty of overhead space when I got on the plane.

Is this usual? I thought the point of priority boarding is that you don't have to gate check a bag...
120 characters? Hmm, I wonder what I could write with 64 characters. Boy, it's gonna be hard to use up 15 characters. W-

That's odd. Was it a really big carry-on?

This is the carry on, it's on the larger size but well within the size limits.

I've flown with it multiple times and I've only had to check it when I've boarded later and the plane was full.

And what's more surprising is today's plane had those new bigger overhead compartments which hold more/bigger bags.

Yeah I'd say its an anomaly and you just ran into a gate agent that didn't like you for whatever reason

I've had that once on a Swiss flight. They lied to me saying it was full even though I boarded early, and then they said it wouldn't fit. There was room and it did fit. They still made me gate check it. Swiss did not want to do a thing besides apologize after the flight. I had booked the flight through United and they did throw some miles as compensation.

Yeah sometimes these airline employees just go on a power trip and get into a "don't challenge my authority" mindset

United cancelled my flight and rebooked me onto a flight a hour earlier. I am a premier platinum member and asked them waive the basic economy restriction and let me sit in economy plus because the flight is gonna be full being that they bumped a full flight off that day. They wouldn't hear of it. Would a HUCA session work or do they not have the ability to waive the BA restrictions?

I have a economy B class fare in united which is eligible for instant upgrades to premium (class PZ) for platinum members. I contacted them and was told that theres no availability. I checked google flights which has availability and takes me to the united UK site to book it. I told this to a agent who told me that since i booked in USD i have to find availabilty in USD. Furtheremore they insisted that google flights info is not always accurate. Is there any way to have them give me that seat? I can currently book it on united's website in GBP.

Quick Data Point -  I called United to book a flight for my daughter using a FFC  (I was having issues using it online).

Agent was able to book it for me and then offered to change the remaining FFC to an ETC. Then the agent noticed I had other FFC's on my account and changed them all to ETC.
I didn't even ask him. He then mentioned that they updated their internal systems and they can easily convert FFC's to ETC's no questions asked. I'm a 1k but the agent said it applies to everyone.

Good luck!

What are the pros/cons of ETC vs FFC?

Is it possible to just cancel one leg of a round trip united mileage ticket prior to 31 days without fee? And if so can it be done online?  Tia

Can't cancel 1 leg. always book 2 1 ways if not more expensive.

I wouldn't say "always"
There are pros and cons to either approach.
If you book two one-ways and then need to cancel your trip you'd be stuck with two cancellation fees instead of one.

That sounds right, although I believe they still charge a fee for cancelling a basic economy ticket regardless of how far in advance you cancel.

That's certainly possible, it's challenging to keep track of all the nuances for each airline
