Can I ask for the story? Just curious

Probably too technical for the audience at large.

I was helping a client exercise a contractual right stemming from a rider to his life insurance policy. The company was trying to limit it due to their systems or procedural errors related to an earlier transaction that occurred with the policy. I stated that I found nowhere in the contract that allows them to limit the right the way they were claiming, and to honor it, or show me where in the contract it says they have the right to limit it. The agreed to a "one-time exception"...
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Companies and agencies that make wrong decisions/determinations, and when they are proven wrong will state that they are making a "one-time exception" to allow things to proceed they way they should have in the first place based on rules and contractual rights.
And then when you need a "one-time exception" they say sorry, we already gave you a "one-time exception", we can't do it again.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

In this specific case that isn't relevant, as the right was exercised in full.

However, I was so confident of being right, that I was literally ready to have the client initiate a class action against the company if they didn't honor it. It was simple and easy, no need to look into laws and regulations. It's a contract.

Why do I always need to resort to a spell checker to spell "exercise" correctly?  >:(
This is one word I seem to never get right.

Now that is a real pet peeve.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half
