One correction: The final paragraph should be "did you or someone you know give over..."
While I agree with the above about removing the explicit mention of refundables, I think you should place stronger emphasis on the fact they use shady methods which could do anything from irreparably ruin your credit score to get you banned from financial institutions. Basically, add a how and why to the "affect the future wrt buying a house" part.
I know the post says this but, like most people are saying, it's naivete which is sucking people in, so this post needs to be very clear about what the scam is (being that you're calling it a scam).
Also perhaps it could do with a more intriguing title. "giving away your social: scam or legit?" "is your social worth $10,000?" or something more click baity.
And if you want to really go "journalist", send an inquiry to the publications who post their ads, and ask if they have any standards or requirements for advertisers, and if they vouch for the farms. The responses, if there are any, might be telling.
